Tara River White Water Rafting is exceptional Montenegro attractions, whether you're a fan of extreme sports or just want an unforgettable experience on your holiday in Montenegro. The most attractive part of the Tara River canyon, which is 90 km long, is full of rapids, wild tributaries, waterfalls, rich forests full of various trees which are scraping the sky; old for centuries and can be up to 50 meters high.
There are rocky and pebbly terraces surrounded with thick pine forests, sandy beaches, high cliffs, steep sides and more than 80 large caves along the Tara River Canyon. With the maximum depth of 1300 meters.
The Tara canyon and most of the rafting camps are located aprox. 4 hours drive from Coastal area of Montenegro. Montenegro Travel Service organizes one day rafting tour from May until September/October almost every day from Herceg Novi, Kotor and Tivat area. All equipment is provided and security briefing given. All skippers and guides are specially trained and are licensed. In addition, Montenegro Travel service rafting partners have grown up next to Tara, or they are long-time fans, and they will tell you interesting stories and legends about people and the canyon which are retold from generation to generation. We recommended to bring swimwear, dry clothes, sun cream, camera and passport and let your adrenaline adventure Tara River Canyon begins.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Please don’t forget your passport!!! Whether you using Montenegro Travel Service transfer service to rafting or driving yourself, you will need to cross a Montenegrin border at Šćepan Polje in order to reach the Tara rafting camp site. You will not enter Bosnia, but passports are required for crossing from Montenegro to the road which leads to the white water rafting Tara camp.

One day rafting from Brstanovica to Scepan Polje is 18kms long and takes approx 2-3 hours. This section of the canyon contains 21 of the Tara Canyon’s 50 rapids.
The program below is for guests traveling with us, using our daily transfer services from the coast. If you wish to self drive to the camp please contact us for directions and start times.
- 10.30h – Arrival at Scepan Polje followed by breakfast in a restaurant on the river banks
- 11.00- 11.30- Kitting up for rafting (life vests, helmets, wetsuits and boots)
- 11.30- Transfer to Brstanovica
- 12.00-15.00h – Raft the most attractive section of the Tara Canyon (Borovi, Varda, Ćelije, Vjernovića buk). Pause for photos and swimming. 15.00h – Arrival at Scepan Polje, lunch in restaurant on the river banks.
During the return journey to the coast we will stop at the Piva dam and also visit the Piva monastery.
NOTES: PLEASE BRING WITH YOU PASSPORT OR IDENTITY CARD, PLUS SWIMSUIT WHICH YOU WILL WEAR UNDERNEATH YOUR WETSUIT DURING RAFTING.
